Motivation for ugly tasks

Filed under: ADHD, Good advice — Lisa @ 12:32 pm

Do you hate to clean your house? Me too. I am a champion procrastinator and can ALWAYS find more desirable ways to spend my time. I don’t have a messy house mind you as I can’t tolerate clutter but clean? Not usually.

I have heard tell of “spring cleaning” but don’t remember my mother ever engaging in such an activity when I was growing up which I now appreciate as I have no compunction to do any such thing myself. Yes, it’s been a long time since I have posted anything in this space! Thanks to the friends who have missed me and have taken the time to let me know. I could explain and perhaps even justify my absence but in the interest of moving forward, I will just sum it up by saying that the needs of others took precedence over my own ambitions. I’ve been working with this guy on and off for years and he’s always got an interesting perspective on his ADHD. That evening, he told me (read more…)

Filed under: ADHD — Lisa @ 7:05 pm

He put a couple of slices of bread in the toaster for his breakfast. And then climbed a ladder to the roof. To remove a brick from the chimney. While his bread was toasting.

This is ADHD. (read more…)

Heaven is

a weekend without kids. I can’t remember the last time we didn’t have kids around on the weekend needing rides here, there and everywhere (limiting me to one cocktail!)  and just being generally needy. Finally, a weekend to ourselves. We were both determined to make it a really productive one.

Being ADHD, we felt sure we could accomplish something like two years worth of work in the next 48 hours. (read more…)
