Writing a sincere note to someone who may not know how much they meant to me. It costs nothing but my time and may mean the world to them.

  1. This is so very true. I’ve just learned this the hard way. I’ve been meaning to write a note to someone for a few months. I even bought a very nice Thank You card, yet it had been sitting on my shelf because I wasn’t quite sure what to put in it. I finally decided to skip the Thank You card, and simply write my note in a Christmas card. I spent a good long time thinking of what to write, and thanked this person for being a friend, and helping me through a very difficult time.

I dropped my Christmas card in the mail on Monday. On Wednesday morning I received a message from another friend that our dear friend had passed away suddenly the night before.

My Christmas card, and more importantly the sincere heartfelt words that I wrote in it, didn’t make it to her in time. Had I not been so lazy during the previous months, she would have known how much I appreciated her friendship, and everything that she’d done. Now, those words probably sit in a cold mailbox, waiting for someone to clean it out and mark it as undeliverable.

  2. Hey Stephen,

Thanks for taking the time to tell your story and to be in touch. Hopefully it will inspire people to write! As for your friend, I think you have to believe she knows. Peace, Lisa
